PC Activity Monitor (also known as PC ACME) sells itself as award winning computer monitoring software. Lets find out if they deserve that title! We start off at the website, which looks a little bit old fashioned but is very simple and easy to navigate. You can download a free trial of the software and there are two versions to choose from when you come to purchase – Lite & Standard.
Once downloaded the installation process is quick and painless and once installed, the first thing we noticed was the stealth levels of the software. This is one of the stealthiest keyloggers we have tested, and we couldn’t find any sign of the software anywhere! A good start. Another good point to note is the availability of the software in a lot of languages.
From here though, the software goes down hill. Although the keystroke logging and stealth levels make this a good, simple keylogger, there is no screenshot capture function which is strange to miss out in a modern day keylogger. Other bad points include the poor 'websites visited' function, which hardly works and the chat monitoring which only monitors one side of almost all IM clients (both sides of ICQ though).
That being said, the file-activity monitoring in PC ACME is great. Absolutely all file-activity was monitored perfectly and the ability of the software to capture mouse clicks is a good addition.
So, to conclude, PC Activity Monitor (PC ACME) is an 'interesting' keylogger! The stealth levels make the program great but the lack of screenshot capture and decent chat interception really let the program down. The price is also worth mentioning - $89.95 is a huge amount of money for a keylogger that lacks important functions. There are definitely better options out there!
