This is a review of the employee monitoring software – REFOG employee. The software has a number of features that help employers monitor their employees computers at work. For this review we'll start at the REFOG employee website. The site is easy to navigate and understand, and REFOG sells a few more products, including REFOG personal and 'Time Sheriff'. A free trial of most of REFOGs products can be downloaded on the site.
Once downloaded, you install REFOG employee on each of the computers you need to monitor, the installation process is quick and easy and once installed your ready to go. Monitoring takes place from one master computer.
REFOG employee has a lot of the expected employee monitoring software features. These include, screenshot capture, keystrokes, chat/IM conversation, URL monitoring, application monitoring and email monitoring. All of this works well but to monitor emails you need to keep on eye on keystrokes and application monitoring as you can easily miss things.
One thing that makes REFOG employee stand out from the crowd slightly is the realtime monitoring feature. Employers, Supervisors & Bosses can watch each of their employees computer screens in realtime (in the style of a video) from their own computers. This is a brilliant for watching over exactly what everyone in the office is up to.
Sadly, apart from the realtime monitoring, REFOG employee lacks slightly in features compared to the competition. There's no blocking or filtering options here and no remote computer control features. There’s also no real, in depth, document tracking. Although one other plus point is that REFOG employee is easy to use and the reports are very simple to look through.
All in all, REFOG employee is a bit to basic to be a all in one employee monitoring solution. There are a lot better options out there although the low price tag might be attractive to very small offices. Our opinion? Go for something else.
