SpyBuddy in the computer monitoring and control software from the company 'Explore Anywhere'. For this review we'll start off at the website, which is easy to navigate with the purchasing and downloading of the software being very simple. Although I couldn't find an official free trial download on the website.
Once downloaded, the installation process was quick and painless. The user interface for SpyBuddy is very friendly with all the panels you need in front of you. After this the product goes downhill somewhat.
The monitoring side of the software is extremely flawed. With some of the websites we visited missing and the keystroke not entirely recorded. The software is meant to monitor all the usual areas for a keylogger – keystrokes, websites visited, programs used, passwords etc but the monitoring was not complete.
SpyBuddy can also be used as a filtering program, and can be set to block certain websites and programs and alert you when certain keywords are entered. All this works very well but is slightly limited when compared to other filtering programs.
Overall SpyBuddy is a very average piece of software with a lot of flaws that 'if' ironed out would make this a great program. I think the main problem is the fact that SpyBuddy tries to be a keylogger and a filtering program and, rather than doing one really well, struggles at both. All in all, there are a lot better programs out there.
